Career in Gaming

Hello friends..
Today I am going to tell you about career in gaming industry. Now a days all the technical industries are going fast in their ways. But when it comes to the gaming industry people find it very much hard or confusing to choose a carrier. This situation mainly occurs due to lack of understanding about the gaming industry.

 "Since the older generation has no idea about gaming, the parents become the biggest hurdles in pursuing a gaming career," says Himanshu kumar talvar, a gaming enthusiast.

So here I am going to share  things that might help you in thinking which direction you have to go.

 Let me introduce you to some of the important  roles that are present in gaming industry.  



Animator :  
Game animator are responsible for the portrayal of movement and behaviour within a game.
 

What is required to become Animator ?

   ---    Have knowledge of traditional and computer 2D and 3D animation techniques.
   ---    Be creative and imaginative.
   ---    Have knowledge of full motion video (FMV).https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_motion_video
   ---    Be able to reveal attitude, emotions and mood through a character’s movement and behaviour.



Assistant producer(Games) :
Assistant producer work with a game's production staff to ensure the timely delivery of the production.

What is required to become Assistant Producer ? 

   ---    Have a solid knowledge of project management.
   ---    Have strong communications skills, particularly verbal and written language.



Audio Engineer : 
Games audio engineers create the soundtrack for a game,including music, sound effects, character voice and spoken instruction.


What is required to become Audio Engineer ?

   ---    Be able to compose and perform music.
   ---    Have sound engineering skills and knowledge of the relevant tools and technology.
   ---    Have a sense of fun and be able to think laterally - creating sounds, especially for fantasy                    games, requires creativity and imagination.
   ---    Be able to communicate effectively with the programming and art department teams.



Creative Director : 
Creative director are responsible for the overall look and feel of a computer game.

What is required to become Creative Director ?

   ---    Be able to inspire artists, programmers, producers and marketing staff to make the highest                    quality product possible.
   ---    Understand what makes a game appealing to different audiences.
   ---    Possess excellent imagination, creativity and problem-solving skills.



DevOps Engineer : 
Responsible for creating an online infrastructure for a game and ensuring the stability and security of the web services.

What is required to become DevOps Engineer ?

   ---    Be able to programme in C++, C and key network programming languages.
   ---    Understand server hardware and modern server technologies.
   ---    Be highly skilled in network development.
   ---    Be systematic and highly organised.
   ---    Be able to come up with creative solutions to problems.



External Producer : 
External produser ensure the successfil delivary of a game while working externally from  the game development team.

What is required to become External Producer ?

   ---    Have a clear understanding of the role and requirements of a game publishing company and a              game development company.
   ---    Understand the development and publishing processes from a game's design phase   to its final            phase (release of the game).
   ---    Be able to handle multiple projects at the same time.



Game Designer : 
Game designers device what a game consists of and how it  lays, defining all the core elements.


What is required to become Game Designer ?

   ---    Be able to accept constructive feedback on your work.
   ---    Have good basic visual design and drawing skills.
   ---    Have some programming skills at least at ‘scripting’ level.



Game Programmer : 
Game programmers design and write the computer code that runs and controls a game.





What is required to become Game Programmer ?


   ---    Be able to programme in C++, C and other programming languages.
   ---    Be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
   ---    Have specific platform experience, e.g. Wii, PlayStation, Xbox.

Game Artist : 
Game artist create the visual elements of a game, such as characters, scenery, objects, vehicles, surface textures and clothing.


What is required to become Game Artist ?

   ---    Have an art portfolio demonstrating a range of work and originality of style.
   ---    Be able to draw from life.
   ---    Have knowledge of anatomy and architecture.
   ---    Be able to convey facial expressions and emotions.



Lead Artist : 
Lead srtist are responsible for the overall look of a game.

What is required to become Lead Artist ?

   ---    Be able to inspire and motivate a large team of creative talent.
   ---    Understand all the roles within the art department and also of any outsourced contractors.
   ---    Be able to communicate clearly with senior managers, designers, programmers, testers and                  other personnel in their own language.



Lead Programmer : 
Lead programmers lead the programming team responsible for creating all the game's compuer code.


What is required to become Lead Programmer ?

   ---    Be approachable and listen to what people need and want, both from other disciplines and                    within         your own team.
   ---    Have advanced programming skills.
   ---    Be able to multitask.



Level Editor : 
Level Editor define and create interactive architecture for a segment of a game, including the landscap, bulding and objects.


What is required to become Level Editor ?

   ---    Have IT skills and competence in the use of world-editing tools.
   ---    Have good spatial and layout design skills.
   ---    Have knowledge of 3D modelling and a firm grasp of game design principles.



QA Tester :
QA Testers test, tune and debug a game and suggest refinements that ensure its quality and playability, assuring quality in a game and finding all its flaws before it goes public.

What is required to become QA Tester ?

   ---    Have a good knowledge of games titles on the market so that you can evaluate a game against            its competition.
   ---    Have an understanding of how games are put together and how the different elements of a                    game contribute to the playing experience.
   ---    Be able not only to identify and record a problem, but also to try to work out what is causing                it.
   ---    Have good negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
