Its a very great news for Indian army . After a long time Indian army has received modern ballistic helmet this month for its soldiers . The army will get 1.5lakh bullet proof helmets that have been force requirement now these years.
The Indian army need to move quickly to fill some vital gaps to enhance the fighting capability of its soldiers to protect themselves on the battle where they are fighting. The world's 2nd largest army is still struggling with its soldiers with basic gear that can give the difference between death and life.
The first set of bullet proof helmets out off an order of 1,58,000 (order worth 170 crores) will be given to Northern Commandos of Indian Army. Another 13,000 will go to MARCOs ( Maritime commandos) of the Navy.
Kanpur based enterprises with of an annual turnover of Rs 300 crores which have been chosen to supply these Jackets & Helmets and providing them to armed forces to 120 countries.
These helmets will contain radio sets attached to facilitate better communications during encounters with terrorists and while having battle. These helmets are made from special techniques because 40 layers of composite fabric are compressed to make sure that they cusion the impact of bullets. The new helmet are designed to bear the impact of 9 mm bullet fired from a short range.
These Jackets are undergoing field trials and the order is likely to be of 1.89 Lakhs. The Jackets helps to break the tip of bullets and stop them from pricing the body when they fired from closed approx. 10 meters.
These helmets are of nylon suspension lined and lined with green plastic these are its interior features. The neck flap is attached to the linear and features of a buckle chinstrap along with a set of ear flaps. These all are made in India itself .
