What is Ion thruster???
It has been also named the (Next) ion thruster ( NASA Evolutionary Xenon thruster ), in the project of ion thruster at Glenn Research center. The main aim was to build a Xenon thruster or we can say Ion thruster three times more powerful then the NSTAR (NASA Solar Technology Application Readiness) is a space craft ion thruster and that was used in Dawn and deep space .
Information about Next engine :-
It is a type of solar electric propulsion by which the electricity is used with the help of energy generated by space craft and to increase the xenon propulsion at the of speed of 90,000 mph (45,000 km/h). It can produce 6.9 KW thruster power and 236 mn thrust power. It can control the power up to 0.5 KW and also has the specific impulse of 4190 seconds .
According to last preceding 5 years test of NASA new Ion thruster have set the new world record for the longest first single space engine test and with low fuel weight and long running capacity . This engine is meant for deep space missions.
While traveling miles over the space, it requires energy to keep moving the ion propulsion engines. It can limit the size of fuel or (small size) with more scientific explosion in small packets . After this NEXT engine only consumes 860 kilo meters of fuel in comparison with 10,000 kilometers a conventional rocket.
Particles are charged from NEXT engine, it catches the speed of 90,000 miles per/hr for the deal of deep space mission. In the part of solar electric propulsion (SEP) the NEXT engines and the Xenon with electrons for ionizing it and then it focuses to the back of engine creating a stream of ion jet also known as ion beam . It creates thrust to move the spacecraft.
